2. Application Details and Expectations
How to Apply (Deadline: August 21, 2025):
- Submit a video audition and schedule a phone or face-to-face interview.
- Demonstrate:
- 2-octave major and minor scales (memorized, up to 4 sharps/flats)
- 36 measures of music performed from memory with dynamic contrasts and phrasing
- A 2-minute original piece, arrangement, or improvisation on a theme
- Perfect interval and chord progression practice (5 min each on Tonedear)
- Ability to sing a 2-octave scale in numbers and fixed do
- Read Rhythmic Etudes by Starer (up to #55)
- Sing arpeggios while another person sings a scale
- Submit a harmonic and formal analysis of a Sonata Movement
Personal & Professional Qualities:
- Agreement with the B# Mission
- Joyful, flexible, gospel-centered, and actively involved in a local fellowship
- Recommendations from a pastor, teacher, and a close friend
- Timely responses (within 2 days) and professional communication
Intern’s Priorities Must Include:
- Supporting the Doran Music Studio Mission:
- Sell original compositions
- Perform and educate
- Promote Classical, Acoustic, Christian, and Original music
- Encourage and support local artists
- Contributing toward these 2025–2026 goals:
- Grow studio to 10 fully-funded students (45-minute lessons) currently at 5.5
- Perform and record 4 programs (25 minutes each)
- Sell $500 of original compositions and arranged material through sheetmusicplus, amazon, and downloads from wordpress
- Improve musically while building community and contacts
