This is an important project I have been working on as our studio musicians take on projects that require collaboration. Piano duets or accompanying really requires you listen to how well your articulation and sounds are blending. Playing a string instrument or singing needs alertness to adjust and get the ideas out in words and intervals. So I created in sheet music some ways that people can warm up together and treat themselves to some familiar spiritually refreshing musical arrangements at the end:
I hope you will check these out at https://www.sheetmusicplus.com/en/product/warm-up-duet-22698816.html and download them to help with your collaborative efforts. A teacher can play along with one line, the other or both to give the student a chance to hear the sound of a piano trio or any other ensemble of non-transposing instruments. This recorded version is 2 suzuki students on violin and cello with me supporting from piano.
Mental Focus and Preparation: This mental rehearsal can enhance confidence and reduce performance anxiety, leading to a more polished and expressive performance. Additionally, warming up helps musicians establish a connection with their instrument and the music they are about to play, fostering a sense of control and familiarity that can contribute to a more engaging and satisfying performance or practice session or rehearsal.
Physical Preparation: Playing a musical instrument, especially at a professional level, requires physical dexterity and coordination and we all want to be serious about our musical giving. Warming up helps musicians prepare their bodies for the demands of performance by loosening muscles, increasing blood flow to the extremities, and improving flexibility before delving into unfamiliar territory.
